Census forms will arrive in your mail March 2010.
Why it’s important to be counted:
- We lose $3,000 per person per year for every person who does not complete and mail back a census form
- Plans for hospitals, nursing homes, clinics and the location of other health services
- Provides transportation needs for all residents
- Funds services for low-income residents
- Provides emergency services to households in need of assistance
- Delivers goods and services to local markets
- Determines areas eligible for housing assistance and rehabilitation loans
- Provides evidence in litigation involving land use, voting rights, and equal opportunity
- And much more…
Don’t be afraid of the census or revealing information it ask for. Immigration (INS/ICE) does not have access to census information, so, do fill out your form accurately and mail back promptly.
If you wish to obtain further information, you may reach out to the Office of Congresswoman Yvette Clarke at (718)287.1142 and/or the Office of State Senator Eric Adams at (718)284.4700 who have established efforts to ensure that everyone is counted.
