Eating in Fort Greene/Clinton Hill

Behind their sleepy residential exteriors, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill boast one of the widest assortments of food you can find anywhere in New York City. From South African to Indian to Italian or French , this brownstone-flecked area presents a selection rivaling most Manhattan neighborhoods. And the best part is that you can find any genre of food to fit any budget.
DeKalb Avenue alone has diners, pizza joints, coffee shops, fancy French and Indian restaurants, delicious Middle Eastern and Japanese food, and Chinese takeout—and that’s only in a matter of three blocks! Stop in for some Senegalese food at Joloff Restaurant, or visit the solar-powered Habana Outpost for homestyle Latin food, concerts, and a marketplace. Vegans will relish Red Bamboo’s soul food (and delicious chocolate cakes), just across the street from Madiba Restaurant where you can see live entertainment several times a week. The newly opened Brooklyn Public House offers delicious bar fare late into the night. Remember to visit the world-famous Junior’s Restaurant & Bakery for dessert!
No. 7, a Euro-Asian fusion restaurant on Greene Avenue, received this year’s Best Unlikely Marriage Critic’s Choice award by Time Out New York; and General Greene at DeKalb and Clermont earned a reader’s choice award for Best New Joint in Brooklyn.
On a shoestring budget? Pay a visit to Crown Chicken on Myrtle for delicious food at rock-bottom prices, (just don’t read the nutritional information!). Or bring your own beer and wine to Black Iris for a Middle Eastern feast.

Great Food at a Great Price: Habana Outpost
I've been to Habana Outpost when visiting Fort Greene and you can't beat the price, great food and casual vibe. The fact that it is so eco-friendly is very cool. Gotta try the rest of these...
