Pratt Station Post Office Closing Temporarily
The United States Postal Service (USPS) announced that the Pratt Station Post Office, located at 524 Myrtle Ave; Brooklyn NY 11205-9997 will be closed Monday, March 1, 2010 until further notice for renovations. The reasons for this renovation are emergency structural and not cosmetic. The main floor (and sub-floor) must be replaced, along with the beams that support the floor.
During this period, there will be Mobile Post Offices stationed in front of Pratt Station Post Office that will operate from 9:00am - 4:00pm Monday through Friday and 8:00am - 1:00pm on Saturday. In addition, the Mobile Post Offices will handle Package Pick-Ups, Box Mail and Retail transactions. Identification will be required when picking up parcels and accountable mail.
There are three other Post Offices in the vicinity of Pratt Station. They are as follows:
Adelphi Station Post Office – 950 Fulton St; Brooklyn NY 11238-9997
Cadman Plaza Post Office – 271 Cadman Plaza East; Brooklyn NY 11201-9997
Metro Station Post Office – 47 Debevoise St; Brooklyn NY 11206-9997
There are many other ways you can obtain stamps during this renovation. If you own a computer, you can look up a zipcode, purchase stamps, or print your own postage through the online service available at www.usps.com. The USPS will even pick up your outgoing packages at no extra charge.
