Forest City Ratner has announced a groundbreaking for the Barclays Center arena at 1:30 pm, Thursday, March 11, 2010. The exact location is still to be determined.

Develop Don't Destroy Brooklyn is asking for arena opponents to skip work or take a long lunch to protest and disrupt the groundbreaking ceremony.

The ceremony comes on the heels of last week’s ruling by New York State Supreme Court Justice Abraham Gerges in favor of Forest City Ratner and the Empire State Development Corporation to use eminent domain to seize properties located in the footprint of the development.
The previously reported street closings are now in effect.
