Update on some of the projects happening in the Downtown Brooklyn Area.
- Fulton Street Mall – construction on this $15 million streetscape improvement began spring 2009 and is scheduled to be completed late 2010. The project includes new sidewalks, street furniture, bike shelters, trees, street lights and bus shelters. The Fulton Mall roadbed will also be replaced this summer with concrete to prevent future street undulation. This work will require the rerouting of buses to Livingston Street.
- Albee Square Park – A 120-foot area of DeKalb Avenue (between Bond Street and Albee Square West) has been decommissioned to create 17,000-square-feet of open space. This park is schedule to open in the fall 2010.
- Flatbush Avenue Streetscape – this $23 million streetscape project will include new sidewalks, furniture, and a planted median extending down the center of Flatbush Avenue from Tillary Street to DeKalb Avenue. This project is schedule to be completed late 2011.
- Renovation of Fox Square – Downtown Brooklyn Partnership has filed an application with the Department of Transportation to improve this small open space at the southeast corner of Flatbush Avenue and Fulton Street.
- Willoughby Square Park– A one acre open space located at Willoughby Street and Flatbush Avenue. The park will be built over a garage. The project is now in design and construction is scheduled to take place 2011 – 2012.
