Theater for a New Audience

The Theater for a New Audience has renewed its plans to build a 299-seat theater and arts plaza in the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) Cultural District in Fort Greene. The new Shakespeare and classic drama theatre, with a small plaza in front, will be located on the west-side of Ashland Place, between Fulton Street and Lafayette Avenue (currently BAM’s garage). A second plaza will be built, at a later date, further south on Ashland, between Lafayette and Hanson Place.
Theater representatives said they will work with specific groups in the community to provide discounted tickets to seniors and school age kids. The theater will also be made available for use by other performing groups.
They are hoping to break ground by the end of 2010.
I am excited about the new theater
