Highlights from the May 12, 2010 Community Board 2 (CB2) general meeting at the Ingersoll Community Center.
- There is a proposed speed bump for Clermont Avenue between DeKalb and Lafayette Avenues
- The Park Slope Volunteer Ambulance Corp, currently serving Park Slope, Windsor Terrace and Prospect Park, would like to extend its service area south to 59th Street in Sunset Park, and north along Washington Avenue to and including all of the Brooklyn Navy Yard in Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.
- Update on the Brooklyn Navy Yard’s development of Admiral Rows
- Building B and the Timber Shed will be reconstructed
- Announced very strong hiring goals for minority, women and locally own businesses
- The Department of Transportation revised plan for Flushing Avenue will be presented to the CB2 Transportation and Public Safety Committee next Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at St. Francis College, 180 Remsen Street at 6pm
- Modification of the $55 million General Project Plan for Brooklyn Bridge Park (in video)
- Upcoming events on Myrtle Avenue
- Bird Town artists Daniel Goers and Jennifer Wong will host a free community workshop to assist children in the construction and decoration of their own bird feeders from custom made kits. Saturday, May 15, 2010 from 10am to 4pm at Myrtle Avenue and St. Edwards Street.
- Myrtle Avenue Young Entrepreneur Mentorship Program will place 15-20 young people to work with Myrtle Avenue small businesses from July 12 to August 28, 2010. Applications are due by Friday, May 14, 2010.
- The Myrtle Avenue Farm Stand will employ three young people and two adults to run an urban farm stand, selling affordable, locally-grown fruits and vegetables. The form stand will be located in front of the Ingersoll Community Center, and will run every Thursday from July 8 to October 28, 2010.
- The Ingersoll Garden of Eden Youth Leader program will employ three youth garden leaders from the Ingersoll Houses to assist with weekly visits by children participating in programs at the Ingersoll Community Center.
